After completing my Bachelor of Education I was fortunate enough to immediately start my teaching career at Sinclair Secondary School in Whitby (2009-2011). I taught there for 2 years and taught a variety of courses (Grade 9 Science Applied/Academic/Gifted, Grade 10 Science Applied/Academic/Gifted, Grade 11 College Biology, Grade 12 University Earth and Space Science, and Civics).
I then moved to Maxwell Heights Secondary School in Oshawa (2011-Present). At Maxwell Heights I have taught a broader spectrum of courses (Grade 9 Science Applied/Academic, Grade 10 Applied/Academic, Grade 11 University Physics, Grade 12 College Physics), I have also been an assistant coach for the hockey and lacrosse teams.
I was on a special position (2017-2022) called an Educational Technology Coach. Our school board created a program that provided all students from Grades 7 to 12 with a Chromebook laptop to be used for schooling. As an Educational Technology Coach I was responsible for supporting the staff and students through the transition of learning to use the new technology in the classroom. I was engaged in supporting everything from teaching the basics of computer use right up to advanced lesson planning and design for use in the classroom. I was lucky enough to work with all of the high schools throughout Durham Region, including working with many staff and students in a wide variety of courses.
I have now returned to the classroom and am happy to be back teaching sciences through Grades 9-12.
